A Message from Fire Chief Lance Maples
The City of El Cerrito Fire Department is administered and operated by 37 dedicated individuals whose collective efforts and spirit of cooperation combine to offer the City of 25,000+ residents and daily visitors a modern and comprehensive array of emergency services, resources and capabilities.
To be prepared as an all-risk organization, the department focuses its resources into four Divisions; Operations, Fire Prevention, Support Services and Training. The Management structure within the organization includes the Chief and four Battalion Chiefs supporting these four Divisions.

Through our three stations, housing 3 engines and one cross-staff ladder truck, the El Cerrito Fire Department responded to 2926 emergencies in 2007. Total calls were comprised of 173 fire or hazardous condition-related incidents, 1799 EMS responses and 954 miscellaneous calls.

The Department’s training is facilitated by an active partnership with the City of Richmond Fire Department. Our two agencies combined their resources to prepare the members of both Departments to be highly skilled in all areas from fire suppression to emergency medical services.
