The plan checkers have been challenged lately to keep up with the number of plans that have been submitted for plan check so far this year. It is sometimes difficult to maintain set turnaround times when the workload fluctuates so much . Currently for new construction (additions, major remodeling, new dwellings) our turnaround goal is 4 weeks. When we state a turnaround goal, it is just that, a goal - a target we are shooting for. Smaller scale projects having no structural alterations or modifications can usually be handled over the counter and/or submitted and reviewed within a reasonable time frame.

While we work very hard to smooth out the erratic curve with outside plan checkers, we are not always successful. We thank you for your continued patience as we try to move projects through the system as fast as possible.

Is there something that you can do to help?

Yes! One of the most helpful things you can do to speed up the process is to submit complete plan packages. We have plan submittal check sheets for single family and commercial projects which you can use to review your documents for completeness. Complete plan submittals can often save one or two more weeks on total plan check processing time.
