On Monday July 1, 2002 Officer Leone responded to 11450 San Pablo Ave. on the report of a shoplifter in-custody at Target. Officer Leone arrested Kevin Jerome Chase (39) of Hayward after it was determined that he concealed items in his pockets and exited the business without making any attempt to pay for the concealed property. Chase was booked into the county jail charged with Felony Petty Theft with prior convictions.

The El Cerrito Police Department will seek a criminal complaint with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

Report Number 02-4175

On Monday July 1, 2002 Officer Savko responded to 1000 El Cerrito Plaza on the report of a shoplifter in-custody at Albertson’s. Officer Savko arrested Connie Lynn Johnson 04/04/60 aka Sandra Lynn Hill 10/20/50 of Richmond after it was determined that she concealed items in her purse and exited the business without making any attempt to pay for the concealed property. Johnson was booked into the county jail charged with Felony Petty Theft with prior convictions.

Report Number 02-4183

On Monday July 1, 2002 at approximately 10:42PM Corporal Horgan conducted an investigation regarding a disturbance occurring in the area of Orchard Ave and San Pablo Ave. During the contact Corporal Horgan arrested Toshia Christina Harrison (22) of Albany on an outstanding warrant and found that she was in possession of a controlled substance at the time of the contact. Corporal Horgan also arrested John Daniel Ivey (22) of San Pablo for possession of a controlled substance. Both subject were arrested and booked for felony possession of a controlled substance.

Report Number 02-4189

On Tuesday July 2, 2002 at 9:02am Officer Leone responded to the 1400 block of Everett St. on the report of two subjects looking into parked vehicles and entering the back yards of private residences in the area. Officer Leone located and detained two subjects who were in the process of entering the yard of another residence. Officer Leone arrested Laine Michael Begins (28) of Pinole and Kelly Rae Rice (21) of San Pablo for Prowling and Trespassing on private property.

Report Number 02-4390

On Wednesday July 10, 2002 at approximately 1:40pm Officer Hartung arrested Caine Michael Begins (28) of San Pablo for possession of a stolen motorcycle. It was determined during the investigation that Mr. Begins stole the motorcycle from a residence on Portola Dr. Mr. Begins was booked into the county jail charged with motor vehicle theft.

Report Number 02-4461

On Saturday July 13, 2002 at approximately 10:30pm Officer R. responded to the 5600 block of San Diego Ave. on the report of a disturbance in the area. Officer Alvarez investigated the report and arrested Derrick Dawayne Woolridge (29) of Richmond after it was determined that he had assaulted a subject in a residence during an argument. Mr. Woolridge was arrested and booked into the county jail charged with Felony Domestic Violence.

Report Number 02-4620

On Saturday July 20, 2002 at approximately 1:04pm Officer Tang conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the area of Richmond St. near Manila Ave. During Officer Tang’s investigation it was determined that the subject was in possession of Methamphetamine and two glass pipes used for smoking the drug. Joseph Pedro Perez (39) of El Cerrito was arrested for the violation and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Report Number 02-4716

On Thursday July 25, 2002 at approximately 5:10am Officers responded to the area of Terrace Dr. and Gelston Place on the report of a subject breaking into parked vehicles. Officer Shaman located and detained James David Burnett (20) of Rodeo who was then identified as the responsible suspect by a witness in the area. Mr. Burnett was found in possession of numerous items of stolen property that had been stolen from several additional vehicles parked in the surrounding area. Mr. Burnett was also found in possession of stolen property from several vehicles in the Kensington area.

Report Number 02-4739

On Friday July 26, 2002 at approximately 12:56am Officer Greenwood responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Santa Clara on the report of an assault taking place. Officer Greenwood contacted the victim and determined that she had been assaulted during an argument. The victim sustained visible injuries to her face and neck but did not require medical treatment. Officer Greenwood arrested Jose Francisco Santos (29) after he was identified as the responsible by the victim. Mr. Santos was booked into the county jail charged with felony assault.

Report Number 02-4798

On Saturday July 27, 2002 at approximately 9:40pm Officer Zink conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the area of San Pablo Ave. near El Dorado Ave. after observing a vehicle driving on the sidewalk. During Officer Zink’s investigation it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was driving on a suspended driver’s license. Further investigation led to the discovery of a concealed baton in the vehicle. Jonathan Jefferson Ford (27) of Emeryville was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon and driving on a suspended driver’s license. Mr. Ford was booked into the county jail in Martinez.

Report Number 02-4880

On Tuesday July 30, 2002 at approximately 5:35pm Officer Savko responded to the Wells Fargo Bank located at 9800 San Pablo Ave on the report of a Forgery in progress. Officer Savko contacted employees at the bank and determined that a subject attempting to obtain cash had passed an altered money order. Officer Savko arrested Angelique Louise Barrena (31) of Oakland for Forgery and booked her at the El Cerrito Police Department.

Report Number 02-4885

On Tuesday July 30, 2002 at approximately 10:50pm El Cerrito Police Officers arrested Richard Curtis Applegate (34) of El Cerrito on an outstanding warrant during the investigation of a reported disturbance. Applegate was found in possession of Methamphetamine and associated drug paraphernalia during a search related to his arrest. Mr. Applegate was booked into the county jail.

Report Number 02-4897

On Wednesday July 31, 2002 at approximately 8:30pm Officer Greenwood responded to Safeway located at 10636 San Pablo Ave on the report of a subject fighting with security. Officer Greenwood contacted store security and determined that they had placed a subject under citizen’s arrest for shoplifting. During Officer Greenwood’s investigation it was determined that Eddie Lamont Wade (48) of San Pablo entered the business with an empty bag and filled it with property. Mr. Wade then left the business without making an attempt to pay for the concealed items. He was arrested and booked into the county jail charged with felony petty theft with prior convictions.

The El Cerrito Police Department will seek a criminal complaint with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
